Job Description: We are excited to offer a Part-time Student Accounting Assistant position to a bright, efficient & detailed oriented college student. Renaissance Rentals is of one of Bloomington’s finest locally owned companies. We are a successful, growing apartment development & property management company with 30+ years’ experience in the Bloomington market. We own and manage over 900 apartment home rentals across eight communities.

As our Student Accounting Assistant, you will be immersed in the accounting and operational processes for a small, growing business. Many of the daily responsibilities for this role will be routine, which require efficiency and precision.

Routine responsibilities include:

  • Opening, stamping, and properly sorting mail
  • Scanning, filing, & copying
  • Updating & maintaining various spreadsheets
  • Posting credit card deposits in our online resident payment system
  • Updating status of residents in QuickBooks registers
  • Preparing bank deposits & taking bank deposits to various banks
  • Updating loan balance spreadsheet on a monthly basis
  • Vendor statement reconciliation
  • Reconciling employee credit card statements

In addition to the routine daily responsibilities, there will be various accounting & operational projects to work on.


  • An interest and understanding of basic accounting principles preferred.
  • Familiarity with Quickbooks preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Excel and Microsoft Word a must.
  • Must be available to work 3 weekdays per week for a block of at least 4 hours during the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm during the school year (12-15 hours per week) and be available to work 20-30 hours per week during summer break.
  • Ideally looking for someone that would like a part-time job throughout their college career and work with us for multiple years.

In this position, you will have the opportunity and responsibility to

  • #1 Lease Apartments - You will help prospective residents from the time of their initial inquiry all the way through signing of the lease. You will help prospective residents by listening, asking the right questions, and helping them find the apartment that best matches their wants and needs.
  • You’ll be our “first line of defense” - quickly and politely answering the phone & greeting guests when the walk in our office
  • Specific “leasing” tasks include... giving apartment tours, taking and placing calls to and from prospective residents, checking & sending emails to and from prospective residents, following up at appropriate times with prospective residents, giving live video tours of apartments to prospective residents, and signing leases

Other tasks & responsibilities include

  • Managing lease renewals
  • Processing leasing paperwork
  • Understanding, maintaining & living our brand - this includes the way we talk with our coworkers & customers, the way we dress, and the way we maintain our office and community to a very high level
